Privacy

yourchars.com is a curated character-card index. Most pages are static and served without an account. A small admin surface exists for editorial tasks; what we store and why is listed below.

What we collect from visitors

We use Plausible Analytics (EU-hosted) to count page views and a few interaction events (age_gate_confirm, admin_login). Plausible is cookieless and does not build cross-site user profiles; no IP address is stored beyond temporary fraud filtering by Plausible itself. No third-party advertising or retargeting trackers run on this site.

Cookies we set

Cookies are all first-party, set by yourchars.com only. We set none on first visit; the following appear only after specific user actions:

yc_cookie_consent — set when you click Accept or Reject on the cookie banner. Records your choice so the banner does not re-appear. Lifetime: 1 year.
yc_age_v — set when you confirm age on an 18+ gated card. Skips the age-gate screen on future visits to similarly-rated cards. Lifetime: 30 days.
yc_session — set when you successfully complete the magic-link login, either as a reader at /login or as an editor at /admin/login. Authenticates your account for actions like saving favorites and posting comments, and — for editors — the editorial UI. Lifetime: 30 days.

Clearing site data in your browser removes all three at any time.

What logging in stores in our database

Logging in uses a magic-link email — as a reader at /login (to save favorites and post comments) or as an editor at /admin/login (to manage takedowns and curation). When you complete a magic-link login, our Cloudflare D1 database stores rows across these tables:

users row — your email_hash (SHA-256 of the lowercased email), role (admin or reader), created_at, last_login_at. Raw email is never stored after the login email leaves our send queue.
magic_link_tokens row — a SHA-256 hash of the one-time login token. Single-use, 15-minute expiry. The raw token only exists in the email link itself; we cannot recover or re-issue a consumed token.
sessions row — a random UUID matching your yc_session cookie. 30-day expiry. No IP address, user agent, or device fingerprint stored.

If you have never logged in, you have no row in any of these tables.

Comments you post

Signed-in readers can post comments on most card pages. Comments are pre-moderated: a comment is held until an editor approves it, and we may reject or remove any comment at any time. When you post one, our Cloudflare D1 database stores a row in the comments table:

the comment text, after an automatic scrub that strips obvious personal data (emails, phone numbers);
a derived public pseudonym (such as reader-ab12cd) computed from your email_hash — stable but irreversible, so other readers never see your email or any real name;
ip_hash, a one-way SHA-256 digest of your IP address, used only for abuse rate-limiting.

No raw email, IP address, or nickname is ever stored with a comment. Comments on explicit-rated cards are disabled entirely.

Favorites you save

Signed-in readers can save cards to a personal favorites list. A favorite is a plain (account, card) link — our Cloudflare D1 database stores a row in the favorites table holding only the user_id that maps to your email_hash, the card’s slug, and the timestamp. No title, note, IP address, or other personal data is attached. Your favorites are private to your account and are removed when your account is removed (see Removing your data below).

Card images and source links

Card thumbnails shown here are small cached preview images, compressed and served from our own CDN for fast browsing; where a curated preview isn’t available we show a typographic placeholder instead. We host these curated thumbnails only — we do not re-host the full card payload files, and any download of a complete card always originates from the source platform.

Every card links out to its source platform (Chub, JanitorAI, etc.). Following a link sends you to a separate service governed by that service’s own privacy policy. We do not share data with those services beyond the standard Referer header your browser may send.

Removing your data

To clear your local cookies, use your browser’s site-data tools.
If you have logged in (as a reader or a site editor) and want your account deleted, email legal@yourchars.com. We delete the users / sessions / magic_link_tokens and favorites rows for that email hash within 7 days.
To remove a comment you posted, email legal@yourchars.com with the card and approximate date; editors can also remove any comment directly.

Terms of Use

yourchars.com is a curated index linking to character cards hosted by third-party platforms. We show curated preview thumbnails and link out; we do not re-host the full card payloads. Every card here is the work of its original creator and is governed by the license that creator attached to it on the source platform.

You may browse, search, and follow links freely. You may not scrape this site — a sitemap is provided for indexing. You may not represent this site as the source of card files; the source is always the linked platform.

When you post a comment, you confirm it is your own words and you grant yourchars.com permission to display, store, and moderate it. Comments are pre-moderated and may be rejected or removed at our discretion; you keep ownership of what you write. Do not post other people’s personal information, spam, or unlawful content.

Cards rated mature or explicit are gated behind an 18+ confirmation served at the card page itself. By confirming, you affirm you are of legal age in your jurisdiction to view adult material. We do not store identity proof.

yourchars.com is provided as-is. We make no warranty about the availability or accuracy of source-platform links or the safety of files served from those platforms. We may update these policies at any time; the Last updated date above is the canonical signal.

Content ratings & age gating

Every card in the index carries one of three content ratings, derived from the source platform and editorial review:

Suggestive — the default, publicly indexed tier. Mild or non-explicit themes. Shown without an age gate and included in search and the sitemap.
Mature — adult themes. Hidden from the default view, gated behind an 18+ confirmation at the card page, and excluded from search indexing and the sitemap.
Explicit — sexually explicit themes. Same 18+ gate and index exclusion as mature; comments are disabled on these cards.

Fictional characters only. Every card indexed here depicts a fictional character created by its author; nothing in this index represents a real, identifiable person. Content that sexualizes minors is prohibited regardless of rating — report any such card through the DMCA / takedown process and we remove confirmed violations within 7 days.

Browsing preference is a hard wall, not a soft filter. On first visit you choose Curated safe picks (suggestive cards only) or Browse everything. Choosing Browse everything confirms you meet the age of majority in your region and reveals mature and explicit cards behind their per-card gate; Curated safe picks never surfaces them. You can switch at any time.

yourchars.com is currently published in English only. Translations are not yet available; the English text on this site is the authoritative version of every policy.

Creator rights & contact

If you are a card creator and want your card removed from the index, follow the DMCA process. We act on legitimate takedown requests within 7 days. For other questions, email legal@yourchars.com.
